HyGear was established in 2002 with the mission to develop, manufacture and supply small scale, on site hydrogen generators. Today a range of standard products generating high purity hydrogen for industrial use are available. Sizes vary from 5 to 250 Nm³/h. The same systems can be used for new energy demonstration projects, such as hydrogen fuelling stations.

In December 2004, the product launch of the HGS-V, a 5 Nm³/h pure hydrogen generator was announced. In 2006 the HGS-L, a 50 Nm³/h hydrogen generator, was launched. In 2008 the first HGS-C (100 Nm³/h) was completed.

Besides standard products for pure hydrogen generation, HyGear is also active in developing tailor made fuel processing solutions for fuel cell applications. These activities usually are performed in joint development with OEM’s with a certain level of exclusivity and secrecy. Due to a growing number of product development contracts, the affiliate HyGear Fuel Cell Systems B.V. was founded beginning of 2008.
