31. March 2008 - HyGear successfully reforms diesel fuel in FURIM project

At 31. March 2008 the European funded project FURIM - Further improvement and system integration of high temperature polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells, project number SES7-2004-502782, was successfully finished. During the test program carried out in cooperation between IRD Fuel Cells A/S and HyGear a high temperature PEM fuel cell system produced 1,8 kW electricity starting from low sulphur diesel. The system consisted of a high temperature PEM fuel cell stack manufactured by IRD and a dedicated fuel processing system manufactured by HyGear. The main components of the system - stack and reformer - were developed by a group of companies, R&D institutes and universities within the FURIM project.
