16. February 2005 - DUOGEN project kick-off
Today the kick-off meeting of the DUOGEN project was held at Hexion's premises in Arnhem. In the DUOGEN project Hexion acts as the coordinator and cooperates with Ballast Nedam, Nexus Global, Nedstack and ECN to develop technology with which hydrogen and electricity is generated using a single integrated system. That system, the "DUOGEN-generator" can be placed at a fuelling station and provide hydrogen to a dispenser for fuelling cars. When no cars are there to be fuelled, the hydrogen is fed into an integrated fuel cell stack and makes electricity. This electricity can either be used at the fuelling station or it can be fed into the electricity grid. In the same manner also a local hydrogen grid can be coupled to the generator so that the hydrogen can be dispersed to residential fuel cell system in the connected houses. The DUOGEN system will be build by Hexion, whereas the fuel cell stack will be supplied by Nedstack. In the technology development ECN will assist both SMEs in several areas of expertise. Nexus Global will take the responsibility for the turn key installation, with help of its parent company Ballast Nedam.
