12. December 2003 - Product launch of Hydrogen Production Unit
Hexion completes the R&D project "HPU-V-5.0". Within this project a Hydrogen Production Unit with a capacity of 5 Nm3/hr high purity hydrogen (99.999%) was developed. Hexion's Director of Technology Anton Scholten commented about this succesfull product development: "The Hydrogen Production Unit consists of a steam reformer section, a PSA-section (Pressure Swing Adsorption) and a control unit. The steam reforming section is a very compact design in which hydrogen is produced at high efficiency, whilst maintaining the possibility to modulate within a range of 1:5. The PSA is Europe's first small size industrial PSA for H2/CO2 separation in integrated hydrogen production units. Both the steam reformer section and the PSA section are controlled by one central control box, for which complete new control algorithms are developed. In the next few months the system will be extensively tested at Hexion's facilities in Arnhem."
