2. March 2004 - City Counsil of Arnhem to visit Hexion's facilities
Today the City Counsil of Arnhem visited Hexion's facilities. In the group in which all political parties were present, several possibilities to use hydrogen in Arnhem were discussed. For instance city buses on hydrogen, district heating, a local hydrogen grid and municipal vehicles on hydrogen were on the agenda. "The trolley buses have to be replaced anyway some time" said F. Schoenmakers from the VVD. "District heating on hydrogen could be an interesting option" according to C. Janssen from the CDA.. According to G. Vink from the PvdA the city should stimulate the activities of companies working on hydrogen echnologies in Arnhem. "This is a great chance for creating jobs in Arnhem" he said. I. van der Deen from Groen Links was very enthousiastic and concluded that the Task Force Hydrogen had made a good start. Hexion's Director of Marketing and Sales was very happy with the visit of the City Council. "I am very pleased to notice that hydrogen as the ultimate clean fuel of the future is supported by representatives of many different political backgrounds. This broad acceptance leads to a situation in which it seems that the City Council is not only allowing us to carry out our activities here in Arnhem, but seems to be looking out for creating opportunities in which we can demonstrate the technologies we are developping. Arnhem is a great city to locate a company if you are working on hydrogen technologies."
